This position manages EHS activities with the objective to maintain and improve plant’s environmental and safety performance effectively and to ensure that it complies with applicable regulations and standards to protect its reputation WITHIN the limits of Interloop’s EHS policy & procedures, internationally recognized standards including OSHAS, 18001, EMS 14001, SA 8000, WRAP and other standards specified by customer or govt
Main Responsibilities
1). Employee Health & Workplace Safety
- Performs floor visits and carry out inspections on regular basis.
- Develops and communicates schedules for regular audits.
- Determines effectiveness and adequacy of safety system, machinery and equipment.
- Proposes corrective actions plans for non-compliances.
- Holds discussions and resolves conflicts with regards to escalated Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) issues with sections/unit in charges concerned
- Monitors environmental risk factors, carried out by environment protection agency (EPA) and ensures compliance with customer or national environmental quality standards defined limits
- Conducts training need assessment of employees and contractors
- Ensures training of employees are conducted such as chemical handling, CPR, maintenance safety etc.
- Ensures implementation of EHS committee's recommendations
- These responsibilities are carried out in order to ensure optimum implementation of EHS Standards to achieve Zero Accidents targets as per prescribed targets
2). Compliance to Company Policies and Customers' Code of Conduct (COC)
- Understands policy / standard development requirements / client standards
- Drafts new E&S policies and procedures and also improve existing policies, as per direction from Corporate EHS/SS Head
- Briefs supervisor about policies and provide clarification
- Educates & briefs all HOD about new & updated policies
- These activities are carried out IN ORDER TO proficiently align Interloop’s standards and procedures with Client’s requirements and OHS standards
3). Environment Protection
- Ensures compliance with quality and waste parameters set by government and clients
- Receives and analyzes ETP lab test results and recommends corrective actions for gaps identified in test
- Negotiate and finalizes all contractual terms
- Ensures smooth operations of fire safety equipment
- Monitors and supervises the proper investigation of circumstances and causes of accidents and take necessary steps to prevent a recurrence
- These activities are carried out in order to ensure smooth operations and optimum compliance safety parameters
4). EHS Awareness & Employee Training
- Monitors and ensures training of employees and contractors as required on chemical handling, CPR, maintenance safety etc.
- Reads and comprehends training material as per needs of department or about new policies and procedures
- Reviews post training reports and highlights areas of improvements
- Intimate internal stakeholders regarding upcoming training activity and its venue, time schedule etc.
5). People Management & EHS Compliance
- Ensures that Section Staff is equipped with the requisite knowledge
- Creates synergies and ensures seamless interaction among team members
- Gives and receives feedback to manage performance of the Section Staff through objective setting, continuous support and formal appraisal
- Participates in training requirements assessment of the Section Staff
- Coordinates with HR for recruitment of new talent
- Takes initiatives to conserve natural resources and environment at departmental level
6). IOS Implementation
- Standardization of EHS mechanism and development of self-audit mechanism on monthly basis
- Development of section wise audit sheet to highlight potential near miss and restart near miss process
- Strengthen the safety GAMBA by Unit/Section Heads
- Develop action plan against the highlighted issues and review on previous report
- Visualization of daily/weekly/quarterly safety audits
